Prisoners’ Sunday marks the first day of the ecumenical Prisons Week, a week of prayer which raises awareness of issues faced by those affected by the criminal justice system.
The theme this year is ‘Jesus looked at him and and loved him’ (Mark 10:21), and he looks at you and loves you too.
Invitation from Deacon Peter Tibke, Lead Chaplain in the Archdiocese for Prisons
For nearly 50 years, Prisons Week has encouraged Christians everywhere to pray for prisoners and their families, victims of crime and their communities and those working or volunteering in the Criminal Justice System.
Please pray each day during Prisons Week but also ask yourself if there is one thing you as an individual, or as a church can do to help any of the people for whom you are praying!
Deacon Peter Tibke, Lead Chaplain in the Archdiocese for Prisons, is happy to receive your offers of help and is available to come and talk to churches or groups in that week and specifically to preach in churches over the weekend, including Sunday 12 October.
