Please pray for the repose of the soul of our parish priest, Fr Edwin, who died on Wednesday 6th September 2023, aged 73, fortified by the rites of Holy Mother Church.
His Requiem Mass was celebrated on Thursday 12th October by Archbishop Bernard Longley, which followed the reception of his body on the previous evening, presided over by Bishop David Evans.
Fr Cownley was ordained on 27th December, 1975. He ministered in Wolverhampton, Headington, Winyates, Bidford on Avon and Bartley Green, before his appointment here at Our Lady & St Gregory’s, Bearwood in 2001, where he served for 22 years. We continue to pray for Fr Cownley’s family, friends, his present and former parishioners and all who mourn him. May he rest in peace.
